Ten things I am grateful for today.

1. Friends that email and call me on the telephone to shoot the breeze and make plans.

2. My Mother spending time with me as a shopping companion.

3. Fresh vegetables and fruit.

4. The internet for its vast bounty of information that yielded some tasty recipes today.

5. The rain and cool summer breeze.

6. Crochet, especially the light blanket that I was working on last year during the summer 2008 Olympics.

7. My camera/ photography.

8. Perennials, that faithfully bloom year after year (like that vibrant poppy up there).

9. Books.

10. Blogs and google reader.

Praise the Lord - I did it! I finished!

Today I ran in the Intrepid Denzine Half Marathon. I got a medal!
I jogged the first 12 miles, but after a long stretch of hot highway I did a bit of walking with a sprint at the end. That pink cap was a Godsend as were all of the people who came out to support the runners some even offered to spray us down with the hose from their houses as we passed by! I took advantage of EVERY single one of those offers.

I didnt get my camera until the end after I had eaten some yogurt, a bagel, an apple and part of a popsicle. I have to wait and see what pictures that other people took.

By the time I got into the van for the ride home, I was so tired. I stretched myself across the backseat and held on for some turns, as I hoped the air conditioning would reach me faster. I was also sticky... very, very sticky. As I was running I spilled Gatorade on myself, also a local restaurant Bucchinos (very tasty food at that place) was handing out oranges so I spilled some juice from that on myself too and of course sweat. The shower was calling my name. I have a bit of soreness in my legs, but stretching every so often really helps. It is a challenge to walk up and down stairs, but the majority of my pain at the moment comes from my lower back. Good thing I have a spinal adjustment appointment for 8am tomorrow!

Summer

It is a perfectly hot summer day today. There people are out enjoying the weather doing yardwork, having barbeques, playing games, swimming, etc. etc. It feels so good to be wearing something nice and light to that I can feel the summer breeze.

Happy Birthday Mummy!

Today is my Mother`s birthday. I think she had a fun birthday, my siblings and I went out with her to eat and bought her some new outfits complete with shoes. She is spending the rest of the evening catching up on all her recorded episodes of her favourite soap opera with my sister.

The rain finally stopped and left behind some picturesque clouds.

The restaurant we went to for dinner had a gorgeous interior. This light fixture was pretty cool. I can`t tell you what the food was like because I could barely taste it, but how can you go wrong with sweet potato fries in a cream curry dip?

My nose is red and blistered on the sides, I have my pockets crammed with a wad of tissues and my hair - oh my hair. It was clean enough since I have been having a fair number of steamy baths to loosen my respiratory system - but it was a tangled mess. I am on the mend though, I feel better than I did last night. Score!

Black and White

Today was a strange day. It had high points and low points and I am grateful for both.

Mini Restaurant Connoisseur

This is Mya. She is five months old and her Mother takes her to restaurants all over the city.

She is very well behaved, although she doesnt eat food from the menu.
She just has milk.

She tried ceramic painting today and did a great job!

Cora how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four and I am only ending at four because that is the photo limit per post.
